Mark Blood had a hole-in-one January 14, 2020 on hole 7 at Charleston National Golf Course in Charlesont, SC.
He used a 7 Wood on the 180 yard par 3 hole.
Witness to his great achievement was Michael Millard.
For my first ever HIO, I was visiting with good friend Michael Millard and we played as a twosome, a round at his home course, Charleston Natl. It was warm but a very windy day, 30mph sustained winds. We came to the 180 yard par 3 7th. I teed up my Bridgestone and hit a good drive, with a slight fade L to R. The green was a little to the Right of the fairway, and in front of the green was tall swamp grass, so one could not really see the green at the flag, but we could of course see the flag. I thought, wow, that was a good shot and I have always been very confident in that 7 wood, it's very consistent with height and distance of... about 180 yards. So we got in cart and drove up, I said to Michael, that looked pretty good. He said, I think it was a little short. But I know that club, so I didn't think so. We got to the green, and all I took with me was my cell phone. Michael was in a trap to Right of green from tee, and I looked and looked and did not see the ball. There was, however, a decent ball mark about 20\" SW of the hole. I tiptoed up to the hole and peeked in... and there it was!! WOW, what a feeling . So fun. I had a great round, shot 83 or so (good for me), and was just thrilled. The club was very complimentary, put a nice Facebook post out in my honor. I went to the bar and there was ONE PERSON there! So the 3 of us had a drink, as I recall. On me of course. Went to the pro shop and bought the plaque, ball markers and other items. The thrill of a lifetime... until my NEXT one. .
